I think we must each find a way to fight, fight at a level where we can have an effect. While the Robert Barnes of the world do the heavy lifting, we each must find a way to attack this at our own level.

That said, Here is my letter I just sent to my county :

Having lived the last 37 years of my life and raised a family in Mesa County, I consider Mesa County to be my one true home.
I am writing you today with my concern over the information given on the Mesa county "Covid 19 Dashboard".

My problem started when I did the math, Radio station 106.9 gives out the "Latest Covid numbers from the Mesa county health department" every day,
multiple times a day. But when I did the math in my head, the numbers didn't add up. They COULD NOT BE!

I called the radio station and asked where the numbers came from and that is how I found the Mesa county "Covid 19 Dashboard" Sub titled "Understanding Covid 19 in mesa county" (linked here)

It took me a minute to find the problem. . .but I did.
it's these () the asterisk that follow the percentage of "Unvaccinated"
Cases 74% unvaccinated
Hospital Admissions 84% unvaccinated
Deaths 79% unvaccinated (I have in particular watched this % which has not changed once in the 5 weeks I've watched it, even though the numbers of deaths changed, the 79% never did and could not mathematically be correct given the numbers of deaths )

Well here is what the * is for . . .

*Data from April 1, 2021 (the date when Colorado expanded eligibility to all residents), through the most recent reporting week.

The previous two weeks is a rolling 14-day total.

If I'm understanding this right, Those 3 important percentages are from April Fool's Day 2021 They aren't updated.

I couldn't figure out how those 3 percentages never changed, day after day. The number of Cases changed but not the % that were Unvaccinated. The Number of Hospital Admissions changed, but not the % that were unvaccinated, even the number of deaths changed, but not the % that was unvaccinated, and that was where the math just couldn't be. . .

I couldn't figure out how we could have 15 deaths over the last two weeks (Todays 2/6/22 number) and 79% were unvaccinated. That's 11.85 persons unvaccinated and 3.15 persons vaccinated. How is .85 of one person unvaccinated?
They seem to be using April Fool's day 2021 percentages in a "Daily Dashboard"!!
People like the station manager at 106.9 are reading this out daily to the public as gospel!!

I read on and found things like Total Patients Hospitalized "with" COVID. As we have seen in places like New York. Hospitalized "with" can be (and most often is) a much different number than Hospitalized "for" covid.

What I expect from you is a thorough look line by line into the numbers the county is giving out to the public. I want factual up to date numbers or when and if that is not possible clear indicators that the numbers given are "OUT OF DATE" and "SHOULD NOT BE RELIED ON".

Regardless of a persons level of Covid anxiety, or their feelings about Vaccination, every Mesa County resident deserves accurate up to date information from our Health Department.
I hope that I will have enthusiastic support in this from each of you. I am however not letting this go, with or without you (I very much hope with) I will see this changed or I will bring enough attention to it that everyone will question the County's math.

PS; This letter was e-mailed to every member of the County Board and the Director of the County Health department.
